  • ROLLS-ROYCE ANNOUNCES BLACK BADGE SPECTRE: THE ALTER EGO, AMPLIFIED

“Black Badge Spectre is one of the clearest statements of power and purpose we have ever made. It has been created in the image of our boldest and most audacious clients, with meticulous attention to detail. From the beginning of Black Badge Spectre’s journey, the clients who requested this extraordinary motor car dared us to share their fearless spirit. In response, our engineers combined data science, qualitative feedback, and their own deep knowledge of the brand’s alter ego to craft an intense and uncompromising character, and the most powerful Rolls-Royce in history. Reflecting the Black Badge character, our designers and artisans realised their most dramatic and provocative vision with vivid details and exquisite contemporary crafts. The result is Black Badge Spectre: the alter ego of our brand, amplified.” Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars “The development of Black Badge Spectre began with our deep understanding of engineering the uncompromising nature of the Black Badge character, overlaid with the detailed analysis of client feedback and their driving style. Black Badge owners from around the world permitted our specialists to access their anonymised data, enabling us to create a new driving experience perfectly suited to – and validated by – the way our clients use their motor car. Following internal development, a small tranche of ‘secret’ Black Badge Spectres was built for a group of clients who requested the earliest possible access to this motor car. They emphatically approved of our engineering response, highlighting the powerful connection between Rolls-Royce and its clients.” Dr Bernhard Dressler, Director of Engineering, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveils Black Badge Spectre – the marque’s alter ego, amplified. In addition to debuting bold exterior finishes, vivid interior details, and innovative opportunities for Bespoke, Black Badge Spectre can summon a four-figure torque output (1075 Nm), with a record 485 kW (659 hp) of power. This makes Black Badge Spectre the most powerful Rolls-Royce in history. In every way, Black Badge Spectre is Rolls-Royce at its most potent and audacious – which perfectly captures the spirit of the bold individuals it has been created for, and who requested it. Black Badge clients are unique within Rolls-Royce -building their success on pushing boundaries and refusing to be defined by traditional codes of luxury. Their approach to luxury is no different. They accept nothing less than the most exquisitely crafted products and uncompromising experiences, but demand a dynamic edge and an unapologetic attitude that reflects their world, their story, and their daring. The decision to craft such a potent motor car was driven by the extraordinary expectations of the marque’s Black Badge clients. Their rigorous demands required an equally formidable engineering response, built on Rolls-Royce’s profound understanding of what a Black Badge should be: effortlessly intense, immediate, and precise. To ensure this philosophy accurately reflected how clients use their motor cars in the field, a group of Rolls-Royce owners granted engineers access to their anonymised driving data, allowing drivetrain specialists to quantitatively analyse their driving behaviour across hundreds of thousands of collective miles. This revealed that clients exploited maximum power in short pulses more than over extended periods. This insight provided powerful validation of the marque’s approach, perfectly matching the dramatic, intense character of the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever created—meticulously developed in the image of this bold client group. HARNESSING FORMIDABLE POWER For Black Badge Spectre, the concept of formidable bursts of power is taken to an extreme with two powertrain innovations. Although these functions are new for a Rolls-Royce motor car, they have a historical precedent. In aircraft powered by the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, including the Supermarine Spitfire, pilots could obtain a burst of additional power by pushing a switch on the throttle quadrant. While the robust Merlin engine was easily able to accommodate these temporary pulses, pilots were required to report the use of the function on landing as a precaution to flight engineers – a requirement that does not apply to Black Badge Spectre drivers today. The first innovation is a unique Infinity Mode, a tribute to the Infinity symbol used to signify a Black Badge Rolls-Royce. Unlocked by pressing the Infinity ∞  button on the steering wheel, the full 485 kW (659 hp) of power is made available, providing a more direct throttle response to the driver. Once this mode is activated, the dials become more vibrant to match the change in the motor car’s character. Black Badge Spectre also features Spirited Mode, which allows the driver to experience a burst of intense, instantaneous acceleration. When the motor car is stationary, the driver engages this function by fully depressing the brake and throttle at the same time, waiting for a haptic and visual response signalling the car is ready, before fully releasing the brake. This temporarily amplifies the torque output to a landmark 1075 Nm, unleashing a surge of force and propelling the motor car from 0-60mph in just 4.1 seconds. BLACK BADGE CHASSIS ENGINEERING Rolls-Royce chassis specialists have introduced a number of changes to inspire clients to wield the unprecedented power of Black Badge Spectre with confidence. The steering weight is increased and the roll stabilisation is adjusted to create more feedback from steering inputs and reduce body-roll during cornering. Enhanced dampers also increase body control, reducing ‘squatting’ under acceleration or deceleration. These revisions perfectly balance an enhanced sense of engagement with the effortless operation and fêted Magic Carpet Ride associated with Rolls-Royce motor cars. A CLANDESTINE AGREEMENT Our conversations with clients made it clear that they were eagerly anticipating this motor car’s arrival long before its official debut, compelled by the potential of Spectre reimagined through the bold, unwavering lens of Black Badge. In response to their frequent enquiries, Rolls-Royce granted a select group early access to this motor car on the condition that they would keep their ownership secret until the official unveiling – a discreet introduction that resonated with the rebellious spirit of these individuals. A small, highly exclusive fleet of clandestine Black Badge Spectres was commissioned for these individuals ahead of the motor car’s reveal. Their emphatically positive response to Black Badge Spectre, and the motor car’s daring treatment that had been developed in their image, provided powerful validation of the most potent Rolls-Royce in history. A DARKENED AESTHETIC   Black Badge Spectre makes its global debut in a new Vapour Violet paint finish, a deep black-violet inspired by the neon ambience of 1980s and 1990s club culture – a celebrated reference among many Black Badge clients. A painted Iced Black bonnet has also been introduced, creating a bold contrast that can be paired with the marque’s palette of 44,000 ‘prêt-à-porter’ colours. Alternatively, clients can develop a Bespoke hue reserved for their exclusive use, in collaboration with Rolls-Royce Bespoke designers. In addition to the existing shoulder and fender coachline options, clients are now able to commission a ‘waft’ coachline, located on the lower half of the super coupé. This accentuates a crisp design line on the lower third of the motor car, subtly emphasising its commanding form and generous proportions. Black Badge Spectre also introduces a bold new 23-inch five-spoke forged aluminium wheel design. Available in a part-polished or all-black finish, the complex geometry subtly indicates the hidden technical complexity and potency of this motor car. Highlighting the increasingly broad geography of Black Badge clients, winter tyres are available for the new wheelset from launch. As with all Black Badge models before it, Black Badge Spectre’s mirror-polished brightwork is presented in a signature dark finish, signalling its subversive, noire character. This includes the marque’s hallmark Pantheon Grille surround, Spirit of Ecstasy, and the double ‘R’ Badge of Honour, as well as the motor car’s door handles, expansive side window surround and bumper accents. VIVID ILLUMINATIONS Furthering its commitment to advanced, contemporary crafts, Rolls-Royce has developed a unique feature that enhances and intensifies Black Badge Spectre’s Illuminated Grille. A new Illuminated Grille backplate has been introduced for the motor car, which is offered in Tailored Purple, Charles Blue, Chartreuse, Forge Yellow and Turchese, allowing clients to extend their chosen colour onto this new canvas, or create a unique accent to complement a coachline or the interior. This vibrantly coloured illumination can extend into the interior with newly developed Illuminated Black Badge Treadplates, which are available in ten complementary colours. A VIBRANT INNER SANCTUARY From the moment you enter Black Badge Spectre, its rebellious character is immediately apparent through the bold interior treatment. The unique pattern on the Illuminated Fascia, which is an abstract expression of the Spirit of Ecstasy, now incorporates the Infinity symbol used across the wider Black Badge family. A statement of infinite power, the emblem once marked historical water-speed records and is a hallmark trusted by adrenaline pioneers. The fascia comprises over 5,500 ‘stars’ of varying proportions and intensity, set in a Piano Black ‘sky’. Framing this advanced craft feature is a richly complex Technical Fibre surface finish. This diamond-shaped weave uses carbon and fine metal thread on top of a black Bolivar wood base. The thread is laid by hand in a diamond pattern between layers of carbon fibre, creating a three-dimensional effect. Once cured, each interior piece is sandblasted, sealed with six layers of lacquer, and hand-polished to a flawless finish, adding striking depth and clarity. The Black Badge Infinity symbol is further incorporated in the motor car, stitched into the leather ‘Waterfall’ section, which separates the rear seats. Black Badge Spectre’s instrument dials can be curated with a choice of five colour themes: Vivid Grellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultraviolet and Synth Wave, allowing clients to harmonise the physical and digital surfaces within their motor car via the SPIRIT operating system. This digital architecture of luxury also grants access to remote charging and location information, and the marque’s exclusive digital members club, Whispers. DRAMATIC BY DESIGN Black Badge Spectre is a motor car born of fearless expression and focus, meticulously crafted in the image of the daring individuals it was made to serve. Its landmark power output, chassis technologies, and expansive potential for Bespoke open a vivid new chapter in the highly successful stories of Black Badge – the formidable alter ego of Rolls-Royce. #ROLLSROYCE #BLACKBADGE

  • Ford Raptor Family Redefines Off-Road Performance

Ford's Raptor family – the Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor, and F-150 Raptor – are not just trucks; they represent a complete ‘Built Ford Tough' vehicle philosophy born from a fusion of Ford's performance street truck expertise and its off-road racing heritage.   The Raptor lineage began with the ground-breaking F-150 Raptor in 2009 and has grown across the last 15 years to a family of three.   The core principles established for that original Raptor – wider track, reinforced frames, long-travel advanced race-proven suspension, Ford Performance-tuned engines (with anti-lag technology), advanced drive modes (including Baja1 mode), and functional design features like heavy-duty bash plates and upturned steel bumpers – remain central to each Raptor model.   This commitment to real-world performance is underscored by the fact that every Raptor model competes in stock form at the Baja 1000.   “The Raptor family is a breed apart from their base model siblings,” said Justin Capicchiano, Ford Performance and special vehicle program manager, Ford Australia. “It’s a family of vehicles inspired by Ford’s off-road racing heritage and a lineup that’s now proven itself in some of the toughest off-road races on the planet.”   Global success The Ranger Raptor has cemented its place on the driveways of performance enthusiasts from South Africa and the Middle East to Thailand, Australia and New Zealand and places in between.   “Across IMG in 2024, one in every six Rangers purchased was a Ranger Raptor,” said Kay Hart, president, Ford International Markets Group.   Purpose built When it comes to off-road capability, Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor and F-150 Raptor are apex predators.   Whether it's carving up a rough gravel track, low-speed rock crawling, or powering across dunes, all three Raptor models are equipped for adventure with selectable drive modes, live-valve FOX® shocks that can ‘predict and prepare’ and reinforced chassis and suspension systems to handle the abuse of life off-road.   “All three Raptor models have been developed with purpose in mind,” said Capicchiano. “And that purpose is performance. Whether it’s Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor or F-150 Raptor one drive down the road is enough to tell you that these machines mean business and that the Raptor name goes all the way down to the bone.”   The Ford Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor, and F-150 Raptor are available at distributor showrooms across the region.   Disclaimers 1 Baja mode is intended for off-road driving only. #FordRaptor

  • FERRARI UNVEILS 2025 LIVERY OF 499P NUMBERS 50 AND 51

Ferrari officially marked the start of its third season in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s top class by unveiling the 2025 livery of the 499Ps which will compete under the official Ferrari – AF Corse team banner. The number 50 and 51 Le Mans Hypercars continue to uphold the legacy, prestige, and triumphs of the Maranello brand while reinterpreting the stylistic elements the 499P has inherited from the iconic 312 PB.     The crews remain unchanged in 2025, a season in which Ferrari aims to contest the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ World Championship titles while defending its Le Mans crown. Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen will share the number 50 car, while Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi will take the wheel of the number 51. The 499P, entrusted to the six drivers, will maintain the same technical configuration as the car that competed in the latter half of last season. The championship kicks off on Friday, 28 February, in Qatar.     The livery . While preserving continuity, the 2025 edition of the 499P unveils striking design elements that make it instantly recognisable. The defining theme remains the Maranello manufacturer’s signature red, which dominates the bodywork, complemented by Giallo Modena in a colour scheme already ingrained in the collective memory after the team’s back-to-back victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.     Set to make its race debut in Qatar on 28 February, the 499P thus pays homage to Ferrari’s recent history while still celebrating its predecessor, the 312 PB. This was Maranello’s last Sport Prototype, which competed until 1973 before a 50-year hiatus that ended in 2023 with Ferrari’s return to the top class of endurance racing.   True to the philosophy of the Prancing Horse, the 2025 499P looks ahead, supported by the creativity of Ferrari’s designers. The livery has been modernised with a new composition, blending red – a darker shade that reinterprets the colours seen on Ferrari race cars from past decades – with Giallo Modena, accentuating the car’s body lines.   The 499P’s livery features a dominant glossy red finish, optimised for high car visibility, particularly in nighttime racing. This is complemented by matte accents that align with Scuderia Ferrari HP’s Formula 1 single-seater design.    The cockpit retains the signature yellow diagonal stripe – a hallmark of the 499P since 2023 – but unlike last season, this graphic now extends across the side pods instead of the lower section of the side. This design choice accentuates the side pods longitudinally, further enhancing the car’s dynamic presence. The effect is particularly striking when viewing the 499P from above – such as from the grandstands – offering fans an original and innovative visual experience.    The car.  At the opening round of the World Championship in Qatar, Ferrari will take to the track with the 499P in the technical configuration introduced in the fifth round of the 2024 season contested in São Paulo, Brazil. This marked the debut of the first technical evolution package (joker), which featured updates such as a redesigned brake cooling duct system and, aerodynamically, the addition of flicks beneath the front headlights.    Building on this configuration, the team worked throughout the winter to optimise the overall technical package, both in the permitted test sessions on the track and in the simulator. The winter development programme extended beyond the car itself – where meticulous refinements within regulatory limits enhanced reliability, incorporated regulatory updates, and fine-tuned every area where performance trailed the competition – but also focused on improving all race-related team operations.     The powertrain . The 499P has a hybrid powertrain that combines an internal combustion engine – a mid-rear-mounted twin-turbo V6 – with an electric unit, the ERS (Energy Recovery System), on the front axle.     While possessing bespoke characteristics, the internal combustion engine is derived from Ferrari’s family of twin-turbo V6 engines, also found in road-going models – a testament to the technological transfer between racing and production cars. Current FIA WEC and Formula 1 regulations envisage the use of turbocharged V6 engines paired with an 800V hybrid system. This philosophy is exemplified by the Ferrari F80, the Maranello-based brand’s latest supercar, which shares the same six-cylinder engine architecture and several components derived from the 499P.    The team . As previously announced, the Ferrari – AF Corse team retains the same driver line-up that has competed in the Hypercar class since the 2023 season.   In the 499P number 50, Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen – winners of the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans – will look to build on their endurance racing list of triumphs in the top class, which already includes six podiums and three Hyperpoles across the past two seasons, in addition to their Le Mans victory. Meanwhile, the sister car, the number 51, will again be crewed by Pier Guidi-Calado-Giovinazzi. They secured one victory – at the Centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023 – three podium finishes, and one Hyperpole.    The goals . After finishing third in the Manufacturers’ World Championship standings in 2024 and second in 2023, Ferrari’s goal for 2025 is to score valuable points at every round of the championship to mount a challenge for both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ World Championship titles. A title win would see the Prancing Horse claim its first endurance racing world championship trophy since 1972, when it last triumphed in the World Championship for Makes.     The calendar . The Lusail International Circuit will host the Prologue (21–22 February) and the Qatar 1812 km (28 February). The world championship will then stop at Imola, Italy (20 April), Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (10 May), Le Mans, France (14–15 June), São Paulo, Brazil (13 July), COTA, USA (7 September), Fuji, Japan (28 September), and Sakhir, Bahrain (8 November).   Antonio Fuoco, 499P #50 : “The team will have even more experience this year than last season. I believe that, in particular, we have enhanced our control and management of the car, fine-tuned the set-up of the 499P, and made progress in overall performance. My wish is to contend for the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ world titles and try to repeat our victory at Le Mans.”    Miguel Molina, 499P #50 : “Our aim for 2025 is to continue building on our work over the past two seasons. Competing for a third consecutive year alongside Antonio and Nicklas will be a great help, but we know the level of competition is constantly increasing. We will need to be highly consistent in every race to win as many points as possible, hoping to finish on the top step of the podium in every race.”   Nicklas Nielsen, 499P #50 : “Winning at Le Mans in 2024 motivates us to compete for victory in this year’s 24 Hours as well, but I think our goal now is also to win the world championship. The race I am most looking forward to – aside from Le Mans, of course – is our ‘home’ event at Imola. Racing in Italy with the Prancing Horse is always special. When you wear these colours, you feel part of the Ferrari family, and the warmth and support of our fans is fantastic.”    Alessandro Pier Guidi, 499P #51 : “Over the winter, we conducted a few track tests and carried out extensive simulator work, doing everything possible to optimise every aspect of the 499P. The 2025 calendar is identical to 2024, which allows us to optimise a lot of things at circuits where we have already proven our speed, and to improve on tracks where we have encountered some issues. This season, I expect an even more competitive championship. To achieve our goal of winning the world titles, we must further improve our performance and score points in every race.”   James Calado, 499P #51 : “Last year, we often found ourselves leading races, showing as a team that we know how to perform at a really high level. However, there is still room for improvement. We approach the 2025 season with optimism, fully aware of the 499P’s high-level characteristics and our team’s strength – factors that put us in a good position in the fight for the world title.”   Antonio Giovinazzi, 499P #51 : “Last season, we delivered strong performances, and the entire team made significant progress. Our shared goal for 2025 is to continue on this path, knowing that we are a great team – albeit still relatively new to the top endurance class. The 499P has already proven to be a fast and reliable car: by learning from past mistakes, we will aim to win again at Le Mans and compete with top-level rivals for the world championship title.”   Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Ferrari Endurance and Corse Clienti : “2025 will see us in our third consecutive year in the top class of the FIA WEC, aiming to build on all the strong results we have achieved so far and, above all, become even more consistent. In previous seasons, we experienced highs and lows – mainly because 2023 was our debut year, and in 2024, the team had to continue progressing within a category that was still new to us. This learning phase has continued, and in the 2025 season, I hope we can be front-runners in the fight for the world championship title.    We have to be humble, as we are competing against many manufacturers in this championship, some of whom are more experienced than us, having been involved in this category for much longer. We have made several organisational changes and continue to do so. I believe we have taken a crucial step forward, particularly in our technical knowledge of the car. Let’s remember that the technical development of the 499P took place in an exceptionally fast-paced and intense timeframe ahead of its race debut in 2023. If we had more time to begin with, we could have accelerated this learning phase, which instead, we continued during the races of the 2023 and 2024 seasons. We have therefore improved both our knowledge of the car and all operations, both on track and at Maranello, showing growth on all fronts.”   Ferdinando Cannizzo, Head of Endurance Race Cars : “Over the winter, we worked on the car and all our operational tools, seeking to optimise them in every area while improving our racing team. From the second half of the 2024 season onwards, we introduced many modifications to the car, all compliant with the regulations. Half of these focused on improving reliability, around a quarter on regulatory updates, while for the rest, we sought to optimise all areas where we found performance gaps with our competitors.    In 2025, while there are no ‘joker’ updates, there are many areas for improvement. Over the winter break, we worked hard to expand the set-up window, evaluating new philosophies aimed at better exploitation of the aerodynamics on the one hand and of tyre performance in all conditions on the other. To complement all this, we are committed to the continuous development of control systems. This aspect continues to improve across all areas to enhance precision and provide ever-faster responses to driver inputs.” #FERRARI

  • McLaren and United Autosports prepare for 2025 FIA WEC season with refreshed look and driver line-up

McLaren Automotive and its Racing Partner United Autosports embark upon their second season of FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) competition with a refreshed livery and driver line-up for the two 720S GT3 EVO cars as the partnership aims to build on a hugely competitive debut and celebrate the 30th anniversary of McLaren’s iconic victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.   McLaren made its WEC debut in 2024 with the advent of the new LM GT3 class. The McLaren GT3 EVO cars demonstrated race-winning pace, claiming the championship’s first LM GT3 front-row lockout in qualifying for Bahrain and a podium finish in Brazil on the way to a top ten position in the championship standings.   The season also included a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in cars numbered 59 and 95, in tribute to the 1995-winning McLaren F1 GTR. This year marks 30 years since McLaren’s historic debut victory in one of endurance racing’s most iconic cars.   Having raced in colours aligned with McLaren Racing’s Formula 1, IndyCar and Formula E liveries, for 2025 McLaren-United Autosports have evolved this look to incorporate more of McLaren’s signature Papaya colour, accentuating the aerodynamic strengths of the McLaren GT3 EVO design. The hood and splitter are now Papaya, as is the rear wing. From the side aspect the Papaya door blade is complemented by the same hue on the lower bodywork rising from the floor, describing the flow of air towards the rear diffuser. Viewed from above, Papaya highlights the aerodynamic teardrop cabin shape that is a feature of McLaren Automotive products.   Briton James Cottingham and Swiss Gregoire Saucy drove the 59 car to ninth place in the overall standings last year. For 2025 they will be joined by French driver Sébastien Baud for his second season of WEC racing, having finished on the podium in Bahrain in his debut year.   In the 95 car, which claimed a podium finish in Brazil, Japan’s Marino Sato will be joined this year by Darren Leung and Sean Gelael. Briton Leung is a WEC race winner, GT World Challenge Sprint Cup Bronze Drivers’ Champion and British GT Champion, while Indonesian Gelael enters his fifth WEC season in which he has won four races – including one alongside Leung last year – and finished runner-up in the championship twice.   The 2024 WEC season begins in Qatar on February 28, the first of eight rounds that includes Imola, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans in Europe. The championship then heads to Sao Paulo and Texas in the Americas, going onwards to Japan, with the final round in Bahrain in November.   “It is a very special year to be racing with McLaren in the WEC and our 2025 livery celebrates that. This season is about building on strong foundations, winning races and going for the championship title, and we are doing that in a car that is proudly, unmistakeably McLaren.” Richard Dean, CEO, United Autosports   “Now that we have proven the McLaren GT3 EVO’s speed and endurance at the highest level of competition, we enter the new season confident of competing for the WEC title with our Racing Partner United Autosports. Racing is in the DNA of all our supercars and the WEC, with the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans at its heart, is the ideal competitive environment for them, so we are excited for what we can together deliver on the track this year.” Michael Leiters, CEO, McLaren Automotive #McLaren
